On February 23rd, 2018 Elizabeth James a third generation African American storyteller from the University of Michigan visited Barth Elementary to help celebrate African-American History Month. The Barth Elementary African-American committee invited the multi-talented storyteller to come out and share her breathtaking African-American folktales with the students. Mrs. Lloyd a teacher at Barth Elementary said,
“We were very elated to have her share such rich African-American stories from around the world with our students, Mrs. James did a phenomenal job.”
James is the Program Associate for the Department of Afro-American and African studies, which allows her to visit schools through community outreach.
