NHS Focuses on Pediatric Cancer

Every day 43 children are diagnosed with some type of pediatric cancer. On September 23, 2014 Chad Carr was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor, and ultimately lost his battle in 2015. Chad was a frequent visitor of Romulus High School and loved to visit his aunt Melissa Carr who is a math teacher at RHS. According to Kathy Abdo the NHS chapter adopted the Chad Tough Foundation based on the lack of funds that go towards pediatric cancer. During the school year the community group coordinated several fundraisers to raise the 4-Thousand dollars that was presented to Chad’s mother, Tammi Curtis Carr. “Our goal is to raise awareness so that more money and attention will be given to pediatric cancer research” said Abdo. Chad’s family which includes his College Football Hall of Fame grandfathers from the University of Michigan former head coach Lloyd Carr and safety Tom Curtis have continued to keep Chad’s spirit alive through the #ChadTough campaign.
