Over the summer, Eastern Michigan University Bright Futures took a group of Romulus High School students camping at Waterloo Recreation Area in Chelsea, MI. Students were immersed in the wilderness for three days and three nights. During this trip, participants had the opportunity to go swimming, row boating and hiking. “For many of our students this was their first time camping, and I believe that exposing them to nature is important to their overall development”, said Lauren Richardson EMU Bright Futures Site Coordinator for Romulus High School. The students learned archery, disc golf, and slack lining. Students were also responsible for setting up their camp, preparing meals, and starting campfires. This trip was filled with risk taking, leadership, and laughs. It was an outdoor experience that staff and students will never forget. RHS Bright Futures Goes Camping!
