Volunteers at Junior Achievement of Southeastern Michigan are helping students at Romulus High School become better prepared for real life. Nearly 100 RHS students recently went on a field trip to the JA Finance Park in downtown Detroit. During the visit students learned about money management, entrepreneurship, and how to balance a real world budget. Students took part in a simulation where they were assigned to a hypothetical life scenario that included a profession and a mock family. RHS Senior Melodi Brown who will attend Concordia University-Chicago in the fall said, “This experience has taught me how to realistically budget my money as I prepare for adulthood”. The hands-on approach provides a foundation for students to make intelligent lifelong personal finance decisions.
