RHS Students Visit U of M Campus

Applying for college can be the most memorable time in a students’ life, with that said leaving high school behind can also be stressful. To assist with the transition, the University of Michigan hosted Romulus High School students to their main campus in Ann Arbor. The visit focused on helping students to better understand the college application process. Students were informed that completing a college application has many steps, which include meeting deadlines, writing essays, submitting letters of recommendation, in addition to academic transcripts and standardized test scores. Nick Terry is an eleventh-grade student who is enrolled in Romulus’ Early College Program and plans to pursue an engineering career. He said, “ The visit was a great experience. It explained the application process, not only for Michigan but for other colleges as well. I was happy to learn that there is more than one deadline to submit an application”. The visit also included a campus tour, where students were able to see some of the best academic facilities, a dorm room, a library, and popular historic locations including the Michigan Union and the Diag.
