Romulus High School honor roll student Jalyn Barnett gains valuable knowledge about economic success by taking part in Junior Achievement of South Eastern Michigan. JASEM has a mission to inspire and prepare young people for success in a global economy. Barnett recently had an opportunity to present at the Junior Achievement breakfast held at Quicken Loans in Downtown Detroit.
By participating in JA Finance Park, Jalyn was able to learn, firsthand, the ins and outs of budgeting and the importance of continuing her education in order to make her own dreams come true. She is a student athlete who represents Romulus High School very well.
"Next fall I will enter my freshman year of college. I never thought this would be possible. Before I came to JA, I didn't understand budgeting, or feel confident in my ability to make important life decisions. Junior Achievement inspired me and I believe that I am in charge of my future! I can pursue all my dreams and I am able to deal with adversity along the way. I am one of many JA students who will use their training to not only invigorate the economy, but forever change the landscape of the business world." Said Jalyn.
According to Junior Achievement inspiring and preparing young people to own their economic future is a difficult task. The need to educate our youth has never been more important, studies show 46% of teens do not know how to create a budget and nearly 50% of teens are unsure of how to use a credit card effectively. JA teaches students, with help from volunteers, the path to financial responsibility. To find out more information about the Junior Achievement program visitwww.jamichigan.org
