Students learn valuable skills at Construction Science Expo

The Construction Science Expo is a drug free event that allows students to explore careers in engineering and construction with a hand on approach. Thanks to the Black Caucus Foundation of Michigan, Romulus Middle School students were able to partake in various stations to experience firsthand what the workforce is like. Professionals from the Michigan Department of Transportation are on location to model and give insight to students on how to perform specific job duties, as well as answer job related questions. “The live demonstrations are certainly enough to sway students towards pursuing a career in the skilled trades” said 7th grade student Brett Sherwood. The annual event is held at the Michigan Science Center and provides an engaging learning opportunity for students outside of the classroom.
