Students at Barth Elementary received a visit and were honored by the Dean of Congress, John Conyers. Conyers presented the students with congressional certificates of achievement for their participation in the Investwrite Stock Market Game. Conyers told the students “ Education is a ticket to success, and it is impressive that you are already thinking at a high school level”. Conyers spent time taking questions and discussing current political and educational issues with the students.

Matthew Williams, a seventh grader at Barth Elementary School, has claimed third place among middle school students in the SIFMA Foundation’s Fall 2016 InvestWrite® competition. Students Perform Shakespeare

The Barth Shakespeareans from Mr. Gibb-Randall’s 4th and 5th grade ACE program acted out their second performance of the year. Last fall they presented “Twelfth Night”. The class returned in early April to perform the comedy As You Like It, which has the famous line, "All the worlds a stage.”  Every student had a speaking part and the play’s theme compares life to a stage by using imagery and symbolism.

National Geographic and Popular Science Author Visits

Science Fiction author and photojournalist Tom Clynes attended a special luncheon with students at Bath Elementary. The students in Mr. Gibb-Randall's 4th and 5th Grade ACE program earned the special lunch with Clynes by going above and beyond in the classroom. They completed extra work in Science, Reading and Writing in order to be selected. Tom Clynes is most recently recognized for his science fiction novel “The Boy Who Played With Fusion”.

School focuses on Leadership

Barth Elementary invited parents and community members to attend their annual student led Leadership Day. The event allows students to showcase how being a “Leader in Me School” has improved the overall learning environment. Throughout the day students performed a musical act, hosted tours for parents and shared their daily responsibilities.
