RHS Students Visit U of M Campus

Applying for college can be the most memorable time in a students’ life, with that said leaving high school behind can also be stressful. To assist with the transition, the University of Michigan hosted Romulus High School students to their main campus in Ann Arbor. The visit focused on helping students to better understand the college application process. Students were informed that completing a college application has many steps, which include meeting deadlines, writing essays, submitting letters of recommendation, in addition to academic transcripts and standardized test scores.

Multi-Sport Student Athlete Signs National Letter of Intent

Romulus Senior Pierre Brown has accepted a scholarship offer from Michigan State University to run track. Brown is a four-year varsity letter winner in track, a three-year varsity letter winner in football, and a two-year varsity letter winner in wrestling. He has a 3.0 career grade point average and plans to study dentistry, his goal is to open his own his own dental office. “My older brother is my motivation, I always wanted to be better than him. Everything I do is for my mom, she is my main supporter”, said Brown.

Students Are Recognized For Academic Excellence

On November 9th, 2017 Romulus High School celebrated students that have earned high marks in the classroom at the annual Academic Achievement Breakfast. To qualify students had to maintain a 3.5 grade point average for each trimester. First-year students were awarded certificates, second-year students received a medallion, and third-year students were presented with a plaque. Families were invited to attend the event and filled the media center in support of their children.

Students Learn from Fortune 500 Leaders

The country’s top female experts in science, technology, engineering, and math, were at Cobo Hall in Downtown Detroit, during the Women of Color Stem Conference in early October. More than 100 pupils from Romulus Middle School and Romulus High School gained career insight by attending Student Day 2017. The experience provided hands-on exploration through team-focused break out sessions, led by industry professionals.

Romulus Dollars for Scholars

On Tuesday, June 20, 2017 members of the 1st cohort of Romulus Dollars for Scholars kicked their summer off at Project Runway at Eastern Michigan University.  The students joined 122 other members of the class of 2019 from Detroit Regional Dollars for Scholars partner high schools. Students learned about post-secondary options, college admissions, financial aid, research and planning for academic and career success.

Army National Guard Brings Warrior Fit to RHS

Romulus Physical Education Teacher Craig Otter is always looking for new ways to challenge his students, both physically and mentally. He recently allowed the Army National Guard to step in and implement their Warrior Fit Program. The program is a fast paced cross-fit circuit comprised of different stations designed to force students to adapt quickly to new challenges. “It is great to work with Romulus students and introduce them to physical fitness. The National Guard allows young adults to serve their country while providing them with money for college”, said Staff Sgt.
