2018 Expense Estimates

Hello Seniors and Families!

The council is still in the process of planning events and fundraising. We are releasing these estimates to help you plan for the year. If you are interested in volunteering or fundraising please email me. Communication regarding additional events will come out as we continue to plan them. Emails and Remind notifications will go out when payments can be made.

ART EDUCATION IS THRIVING AT RHS

The art program at Romulus High School has expanded and moved into a new bigger space. The visual fine arts program led by painter and veteran teacher Shanda Easterling is one of the most popular extracurricular classes in the school. The art program consists of several classes including Art Foundations, Art and Logic, Drawing 1 and 2, Design, and Painting and Fine Arts Independent Studies. “We are anxiously awaiting the approval for an Advanced Placement (AP) studio drawing class for the 2018-19 school year”, said Easterling.

RHS Students Spread Holiday Cheer

Christmas magic is in full effect in and around Romulus. Three groups from Romulus High School have demonstrated the reason for the season, giving to others. Romulus High School’s Family Career Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) chapter led by teacher Lisa Willerick has won gold medals over the years at the state and national level for their dedication to the community. However, their work always begins at the local level. Recently members of the chapter spent the day at the Romulus Senior Center for their annual Christmas dinner.

RHS Students Visit U of M Campus

Applying for college can be the most memorable time in a students’ life, with that said leaving high school behind can also be stressful. To assist with the transition, the University of Michigan hosted Romulus High School students to their main campus in Ann Arbor. The visit focused on helping students to better understand the college application process. Students were informed that completing a college application has many steps, which include meeting deadlines, writing essays, submitting letters of recommendation, in addition to academic transcripts and standardized test scores.

RHS Host HOSA Regional Conference

More than 800 students from 12 different schools packed Romulus High School on Saturday December 3rd for the Health Occupations Students of America Region 5 Leadership Conference. Terri Brinston is a 20-year veteran in the health care industry and serves as Romulus High Schools’ Health Occupations Instructor, she is credited with coordinating the event. “I am thankful for the more than 70 volunteers who helped make this event a success. “It is important that we support our students so they can sharpen their skills and pursue their passion ” said, Brinston.

Multi-Sport Student Athlete Signs National Letter of Intent

Romulus Senior Pierre Brown has accepted a scholarship offer from Michigan State University to run track. Brown is a four-year varsity letter winner in track, a three-year varsity letter winner in football, and a two-year varsity letter winner in wrestling. He has a 3.0 career grade point average and plans to study dentistry, his goal is to open his own his own dental office. “My older brother is my motivation, I always wanted to be better than him. Everything I do is for my mom, she is my main supporter”, said Brown.

Students Are Recognized For Academic Excellence

On November 9th, 2017 Romulus High School celebrated students that have earned high marks in the classroom at the annual Academic Achievement Breakfast. To qualify students had to maintain a 3.5 grade point average for each trimester. First-year students were awarded certificates, second-year students received a medallion, and third-year students were presented with a plaque. Families were invited to attend the event and filled the media center in support of their children.
